Medication Assisted Recovery
The JCH Medication Assisted Recovery Clinic is open and ready to take you or a loved one on the path to recovery. Since its start in 2019, nearly 300 patients have received recovery services. Medication assisted recovery or MAR is the use of medications to assist individuals with addiction. We utilize multiple forms of treatment including medication, counseling and the support from family and friends to aid those with addiction. Medications can decrease cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Counseling services teach individuals new ways to cope with daily life. Recovery is a life-long process, but these services can and do help! When you are ready, we are here to assist you on your road to recovery.
In the battle against addiction in our community, our ultimate goal is to find a solution to this crisis. For this reason, Jersey Community Hospital is partnering with healthcare professionals and community leaders to find a solution. Our goal is to pave the way to produce more resources for those who are personally battling addiction and those who are directly affected by addiction.
What is addiction?
Addiction is a treatable, chronic medical disease involving complex interactions among the brain, genetics, the environment, and an individual’s life experiences. Addiction essentially hijacks the brain. Once addicted, a person begins to use substances to feel normal. They become tolerant and need more of the substance to feel the same effect. Without the substance, they can develop withdrawal symptoms.
